In general the the Inspection Requirements for Operators of Hazardous Waste Treatment facilities are that they must perform inspections so as to identify any malfunctions, deterioration, employee errors and discharges that may be cause the release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste constituents into the environment or that may be a threat to human health. These inspections are normally conducted at a minimum of once per week.
The owner must also inspect monitoring equipment , safety equipment, fire, life safety, emergency and security devices. Pumps and dikes should also be inspected to prevent hazards.
By definition a used oil generator is any person, by site, whose act or process produces used oil or whose act first causes used oil to generated.
The frequency of the inspections can vary but it should be done based on the age and condition of the site and the equipment . in any event the inspections must be done to meet federal and state regulations.
The owner or operator must record inspections in an inspection log or summary. He must keep these records for at least three years from the date of inspection. At a minimum, these records must include the date and time of the inspection, the name of the inspector, a notation of the observations made, and the date and nature of any corrective actions taken.
